Black-headed Gull Chroicocephalus ridibundus

12 January 2014

This adult winter-plumaged gull was seen at Lake Chelekcheka, Ethiopia where it will spend the winter before migrating back to the Western Palearctic regions to breed.

  2. What a lovely white!
It is so different in this winter plumage!
Where I am - over 2 and a half hours from the Mediterranean sea and the Atlantic ocean - I don't get a chance to see these birds.
    Keep well David!

  3. Ah, a bird in Africa that I know almost too well. Hope your Canadian weather soon resembles that of Ethiopia.
